Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, why it is used, and the limited situations in which another party may receive it. By continuing to use Delaware County Criminal History, you accept these practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep a separate log of those search terms.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email or other direct message is retained as needed to answer it. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.

Data We Gather Automatically

Our systems receive basic technical details whenever a page loads:

  • Page-view dates and times
  • The referring website, when one is supplied
  • Visited pages and time spent on them
  • Device category and operating system
  • Browser name and version
  • The device's assigned IP address

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help show aggregate use, such as popular pages and common exit points. Analytics services assist with that measurement. A browser can block cookies, although doing so may change how some features behave.

What We Do With This Data

  • Route a query to the selected search provider
  • Diagnose errors and performance problems
  • Measure which resources visitors use
  • Operate and improve page speed and availability
  • Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Delaware County Criminal History does not compile, maintain, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It identifies official sources such as the Delaware County Sheriff, Iowa District Court, Iowa DPS Division of Criminal Investigation, and Iowa Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into a consumer report or a third-party criminal-history file, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted through a tool is governed by that company's policy, retention choices, and sharing practices rather than this policy. Read the provider's privacy terms before sending a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to a sheriff, court, state agency, legal-aid organization, or outside search service. Once a visitor leaves this website, the destination's privacy policy controls. Review it before providing personal details.

Some advertising companies may measure activity across websites to select ads. That activity occurs through their systems.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:

  • Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
  • Search partners processing a query submitted to their tool
  • Advertising networks serving ads on these pages
  • Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable security practices protect the information we receive. No internet system is completely secure, so a breach-free result cannot be guaranteed.

Users Under 18

This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. A verified report that a minor supplied such data will be reviewed for deletion.

Your Data Rights

Iowa Code chapter 22 governs access to public records held by government, while Iowa Code chapter 692 controls criminal-history dissemination. Those laws do not turn visitor data into a Delaware County government record. Subject to applicable privacy law, a visitor may:

  • Request deletion of qualifying data
  • Ask that inaccurate personal information be corrected
  • Seek access to personal information held about them
  • Object to certain processing where the law supplies that right

Updates to This Policy

A revised policy becomes available on this page with an updated effective date. Visitors should review it periodically for changes in data practices.
